Virtual Telehealth Lactation Consultations Accessible From Your Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, or Mobile Device
Orange County Breastfeeding Consultants provides patients throughout Orange County with affordable online lactation consultations. Using a secure telehealth video conferencing platform that is trusted by clinicians worldwide, our lactation consultants are able to deliver personalized, face-to-face breastfeeding planning, education, and care to new mothers in the comfort of their own homes. With over 40 years of experience caring for mothers and babies, OCBC is excited to bring our expertise, evidence based techniques, and compassionate guidance to an accessible online platform. Telemedicine allows us to provide breastfeeding support to existing clients in Irvine, San Clemente, Newport Beach, Mission Viejo, Laguna Niguel, as well as to new patients located in Northern Orange County or throughout California.
Online Breastfeeding Support, Education, and Neonatal Care
During a patient’s first virtual consultation, one of our highly trained, International Board Certified Lactation Consultants will take a complete history of the patient’s pregnancy, labor, delivery, and feeding patterns in order to develop a personalized plan of care that best supports the needs of mother and baby. We will then perform a feeding assessment, observing latch, suck, and positioning.
Because before and after feeding weights are helpful when breastfeeding babies with special needs or feeding difficulties, we offer convenient scale rental services to our local clients and can provide online resources for affordable scale rentals to clients living beyond our service area.
After observing the feeding and documenting pre-and post-feeding weights, a comprehensive plan of care is given to the mother. Our support covers:
- Prenatal education & planning
- Support for mothers expecting multiples
- Feeding assessments
- Comprehensive plans of care
- Preemie support
- Breast care, including treatment for mastitis, sore nipples & tender breasts
- Latching & positioning
- Pumping techniques
- Increasing milk supply
- Counseling for returning to work
- And other common breastfeeding questions and concerns
Each virtual consultation includes a complimentary follow-up phone visit scheduled within one week of the consult, and additional appointments may be scheduled at a reduced rate.

Online Lactation Consultations and COVID-19
At Orange County Breastfeeding Consultants, the health and well-being of our patients is our top priority. We are here to help mothers with their breastfeeding and lactation needs during this difficult time.
As hospitals and clinics respond to the current healthcare crisis, many have had to cut resources for follow-up care after delivery. Not only can OCBC use telemedicine to support mothers with follow-up care, but we can also offer online lactation consultations to help reduce the risk of infection and illness. Online lactation consultations are a great solution for mothers and babies with preexisting health conditions and those practicing CDC-recommended social distancing.
I was given a call back by Sandy...when I needed someone the most.
During our consultation, not only did we have a plan to recover from my mastitis but after hearing that I nursed my first born for 20 months, she said it was her mission to make sure I was able to with my second. A wave of emotions came over me as she said those beautiful words. Shortly after, she helped coached me to latch him on.. VIRTUALLY!
Fast forward to a week later.. today. It’s been day three where my son does not take bottle during the day...It has been 5 long weeks since my son has been born and the past three days could not have been possible without Sandy. She continues to follow up with me and I feel the love and passion she has for mothers. It’s so beautiful to see that in an LC and I am forever grateful for the support and guidance she has given me since day one. I can confidently say that this is only the beginning to my breastfeeding journey with my son and I am looking forward to what lies ahead for the both of us.
Whatever issue or concern you are currently facing with breastfeeding.. Don't hesitate to contact Sandy.
