Coming home from the hospital as a first time mom, I had a lot of questions, concerns, and worries. Am I doing this right? Why does it hurt? How do I use a Haaka or pump? Jamie came to my house 4 days after my daughter was born and she was amazing. Her knowledge, professionalism and experience was beyond what I could have imagined. Jamie answered all the questions that I had and helped put my mind at ease. She taught me and my daughter techniques and tools that helped us on our breastfeeding journey. I highly recommend Jamie to any newborn mom!!
There is nothing more overwhelming than being a first time mom, coming home from the hospital and trying to figure out how often to feed your new baby, stressing about whether your newborn is latching correctly, or most importantly getting enough to eat. I had so much anxiety about breastfeeding and making sure my daughter was getting enough to eat, I mean at the end of the day it’s our responsibility whether our babies get enough food. I was logging every feeding, every wet/dirty diaper tracking how much she weighed before and after feeding and still stressing about everything. Jamie came to the house and comforted me in all the ways I needed. She listened to my fears, what I was stressing out about, and gave me a guideline and plan to focus on. She helped remove all the stress that I had put on myself and allowed me to relax and enjoy that bonding time with my daughter, that is so very special and unique. Fast forward 6 years, my newborn son was born a month prematurely and in the NICU. I figured this will be easy, I breastfeed my daughter for a year, I’ve got this down. Boy was I wrong. This was by far my most complicated attempt. My son was in the NICU for 2 weeks, but I had Jamie by my side each step of the way. She guided me on how to get my milk supply up so that I could pump while he was in the NICU, and still attempt to breastfeed him while he was there. Once My son came home from the NICU he started losing a lot of weight rapidly. His pediatrician mentioned having him readmitted to the hospital to help him gain more weight. I called Jamie for a consult and thanks to her she had discovered my son had tongue ties in his mouth that was preventing him to latch accordingly, to eat, or even sleep through the night. She recommended me to The Tongue Tie Team, and immediately after he was eating, latching correctly and even sleeping through the night for the first time ever. Jamie was absolutely incredible with both of my breastfeeding experiences with my kids and it’s because of her that I got to enjoy those one on one moments with them. If it wasn’t for her, I would have quit long before and not been able to truly enjoy that bonding experience with both of my kids. She gave me the support, the confidence and the education I needed. Her professional experience of breastfeeding goes above and beyond just the bonding experience between a mother and child.
I highly recommend this for any new mom, or even a mom of multiple kids because every baby is a different experience, and she is worth it!
I can’t thank Jamie enough for all the support she gave to us during my breastfeeding journeys. With my first baby, he was IUGR (intrauterine growth restriction) and had a difficult time with latching but Jamie guided us on the best way to stay with breastfeeding and make sure our little was getting adequate nutrition. She helped us go back to breast after the doctor had us supplementing with formula. And we continued breast-feeding for 14 months after that.
With my second she identified a lip tie and recommended us to a pediatrician. Jamie helped us with latching and maintaining milk supply. We are still currently breastfeeding and couldn’t be happier. Thanks to her care.
I am forever grateful for her assistance during this vital time in my babies life. Jamie was such sunshine when it felt like the world was against us in this journey. I highly recommend her to all my friends starting there breastfeeding journey!
Sandy was amazing! She was very thorough about getting my history and developing a plan of attack to continue my breast feeding journey when I was having trouble with a drop in supply. She was also readily available if I had any questions after the consultation. Loved that she followed up at the end of the week to see how things were going and make sure we were on the right track. She also rents scales to do the weighted feeds do that helped me to make sure baby was getting enough by breast or if I needed to supplement. Happy to say my baby is eating completely off the breast with no supplementing! I highly recommend Sandy to help with your breast feeding journey!
Sandy Griffin is an incredibly knowledgeable, caring individual who will literally go out of her way for her clients. I came across Sandy’s business OC Breastfeeding Consultants when a week after my delivery, my milk still hadn’t come in. Feeling helpless and hopeless, I contacted several LCs and Sandy came through! I am so glad that I found Sandy when I did as I truly don’t know what I would do without all of her guidance and help. Sandy has a wealth of knowledge from her education and experience of working as a lactation department at a hospital and later at a private practice. She is a true expert in the lactation field and explained things to me in a way that made sense. Moreover, Sandy listened to my specific situation and challenges, and gave back meaningful and actionable advice. After following Sandy’s plan for a few days, I was already seeing significant progress in what seemed like a lost cause. Sandy and I also handled everything remotely over the phone and by telehealth, which was a huge relief not to expose myself, my baby, or my household during the pandemic. Sandy made herself available at any time over phone and text, which was extremely helpful whenever I would have questions that came up in the process. Sandy also offered supplies for rent such as the Medela scale, to ease any uncertainty of how much milk my baby was transferring. Working with Sandy felt like I had my own personal trainer or coach to guide me through a challenging and unfamiliar experience. But having Sandy there to guide me with all of her helpful tips and guidance made all the difference. I strongly recommend Sandy to anyone who is currently expecting (I wish I had consulted Sandy before the baby came to ease some of the stress when it was time to breastfeed) or anyone who recently had a baby (it’s not too late to turn things around!). I will be passing along Sandy’s information to all of my friends and acquaintances because of my amazing experience with Sandy. It is obvious that Sandy knows her stuff, has a true passion for being a lactation consultant and cares about the success of her clients and their baby. I am so lucky to have met her and I encourage anyone to work with Sandy too.
